Benicia Theatre Group Presents Neil Simon’s Hilarious Farce Rumors

Benicia, CA — Get ready for an evening of chaos, comedy, and classic Neil Simon wit as Benicia Theatre Group proudly presents Rumors, opening April 17 and running through May 10 at the historic B.D.E.S. Portuguese Hall in Benicia.

Directed by award-winning director Clinton Vidal, Rumors is a fast-paced farce that begins with a simple anniversary party—and quickly spirals into a whirlwind of secrets, misunderstandings, and outrageous lies. When guests arrive to find their host mysteriously injured and his wife missing, they scramble to protect reputations at all costs, triggering a cascade of comedic confusion that only intensifies as the night unfolds.

Widely regarded as one of Neil Simon’s most celebrated comedies, Rumors delivers rapid-fire dialogue, physical comedy, and a expertly orchestrated ensemble performance.

This production features a dynamic cast including Jennifer Rubio, Kyle Nash, Virgie Poole, Joshua Roberts, Andrew Norris, Ginger Burnett, Rob Smiley, Brittany Kamerschen, Linda Scaparotti, and Michael Lester.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated production team brings the world of Rumors to life. The production is stage managed by Grace Ottmer, with costumes by Sandy Grey and Donna Telepak. Set design is led by Clinton Vidal and Flavia Smith, with set painting by Beate Brühl. Properties and crew support are provided by Cindy Smith and Karyn De Souza. Lighting is operated by Tom Kvech, with sound by Grace Ottmer. Front of house operations are managed by Sandi Grey, and bar management is led by Helen Nolan and Trey McCulloch. Production management is overseen by Veronica Bearce and Steve Organ.

Performances will take place Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Doors open one hour prior to showtime.
